What social problems have been created by the growth of Myspace and YouTube?

The social issues related to the growth of sites like myspace and youtube are as followed:

Copyright Laws - Images and videos uploaded by members of these online communities are more often than not the work of another individual, this is in breach of copyright law if credit is left out and also creates quarrels over ownership which can lead to legal suits and Issues with the owner of the image or video.

Slander/Defamation - Through these online communities, people can be mocked and insulted, without them knowing who the person is. These people can also put up false information about a person that could be detrimental to the person in question, take for example, the star wars kid, who was filmed pretending to be a jedi, these tapes were later found and put on the internet without his permission, He sued these former friends for social defamation and mental anguish.

Illegal activities - These are also common in Online communities, with people openly selling pornography and things that can be deemed illegal (drugs) to others via their profile page, which can be accessed by everyone in the online community, including children. This also includes internet stalkers who set up fake profiles on these sites in order to stalk people over the internet.

omg

lots of social problems have happened

i met a guy from my school (Same grade) so he was in my class but i never really knew him well, then he began liking me and started calling me from the directory and sortof started stalking me and i got freaked out. so then once i was trying to be nice and i agreed to slow dance with him for ONE song. it totally lowered my self confidence

second thing is

my friend she has a guy best friend and used to have a boyfriend

so she decided to put the boyfriend as number one on her top and her best guy friend got really mad (and btw the best guy friend has a girlfriend too) and they got into a HUGE fight, and now they don't even talk anymore

and it seems like a lot of my friends are getting hurt by what place they're put on in myspace

and its just really overrated

What social problems have been created by the growth of Myspace and YouTube?

MySpace represents the growth of a social networking phenomenon, and creates a "cyber-society". The decreasing need for actual human contact makes people less prepared for a formal, or even an informal situation where a good impression needs to be made.

YouTube, likewise, results in the exchange of ideas through non-verbal media, crippling society in a way that makes people struggle with IPT short answers, because they're used to data-by-video. =P
